Choose your pathway

There is more than one way to serve.

Some volunteers help with committees, events, media, fundraising, and outreach. Others may later prepare for direct caller support through the Listener pathway.

🤝

Friends Track

A practical starting point for persons who want to support Lifeline through committees, projects, outreach, media, fundraising, and events.

  • Attend online Wednesday meetings
  • Join and participate in a committee
  • Support Lifeline without interacting with callers
  • Begin with a 4-week commitment
☎️

Listener Track

A deeper pathway for volunteers who may be prepared to offer emotional support to callers experiencing despair, distress, or thoughts of suicide.

  • Complete the Friends Track first
  • Complete a preliminary interview
  • Attend mandatory preparation classes
  • Commit to confidentiality, anonymity, and timeliness
